Yard waste disposal and mulch sales occur at the Solid Waste & Recycling Main Facility- located at 28 County Services Road in Pittsboro. Learn more about the Main Facility hours of operation and holiday schedule. 

Yard Waste Disposal

Yard waste is accepted at the Main Facility, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Note: For any items requiring use of the scales, people MUST weigh in by 3:30 pm.

New yard waste fee starting July 1, 2025.

The charge to dispose of yard waste is $25/ton, with a $2 minimum. Everyone must weigh in and out on the scales. All loads must be secured. Learn more about securing your load.

Items Accepted in the Yard Waste 

• Grass clippings
• Limbs
• Stumps- with no excess dirt
• Trees
• Wood- untreated, unpainted
• Wood pallets- untreated, unpainted
• *Bamboo needs to be separated for disposal

If yard waste is brought in a bag or container, it will need to be emptied out. 

Items NOT Accepted in the Yard Waste

• Concrete/brick
• Excessive dirt
• Paper yard bags
• Plastic bags
• Pressed board
• Trash
• Wood- treated, painted

Mulch 

Saturday mulch sales will return in March 2026.
