Tire Disposal

Tires are accepted at the Main Facility, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Note: For any items requiring use of the scales, people MUST weigh in by 3:30 pm. There is no charge to dispose of tires, but they must be weighed on the scale and counted. All tires must be off the rim.

There is no limit on the size and quantity of tires accepted at the Main Facility. Please call ahead with more than 100 tires to ensure there is space available.

Those with more than 5 tires to dispose of must to complete a Scrap Tire Certification Form- the form is available in English and Spanish. Download the Scrap Tire Certification Form and bring it to save time.

Anyone with a large amount, can take them directly to Central Carolina Tire Disposal (CCTD) located at 1616 McKoy Town Road, Cameron NC. The Solid Waste & Recycling Main Office must be notified before going to CCTD and complete the Scrap Tire Certification Form- the form is available in English and Spanish.

Stacking Tires

Tires will need to be hand-loaded into a tractor trailer. The tires MUST be stacked and laced correctly. See the directions and images below for how to properly stack the tires.

Tires in Trailer

  1. Lean the first row at a slight angle against a wall or other solid object.
A tire or two placed flat on the ground can also be the starting point.
  2. Stack the second row on top of the same angle, but in the opposite direction to "lace" the tires.
  3. Alternate the direction of each subsequent row.
