Chatham County Department of Social Services administers emergency assistance programs to address the urgent needs of the residents of Chatham County. Program goals are to provide single or time-limited financial assistance for families and individuals to alleviate the crisis and help prevent future crises .
Programs include general Emergency Assistance, Crisis Intervention and Low Income Energy Assistance Programs (LIEAP). For more information regarding availability and eligibility, visit the NC DHHS page for low-income financial resources.
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program provides a one time financial payment to the energy provider for heating costs during the winter months for eligible households.
All are welcome to apply. Priority will be given to families with children and adults with disabilities, seniors, individuals receiving adult or child protective services, or families who may become a client of protective services, if emergency needs are not addressed.
