Measles symptoms can include the following. Not everyone will experience every symptom. 

• 7-14 days after exposure
  • Fever
  • Cough
  •  Runny nose
  • Red, watery eyes

    2-3 days after other symptoms begin

• Tiny white spots inside mouth (Koplik spots)

  3-5 days after other symptoms begin

• Rash

If you are experiencing measles symptoms, call your health care provider before visiting the office in person.

• The measles vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella vaccine, also known as MMR) is the best way to protect yourself from measles. Getting both doses of the vaccine is 97% effective at preventing measles.

  NCDHHS offers a "Check Your Immunity Tool" to confirm whether you or your child are protected.

• If you or your child is not immune to measles, the Chatham County Public Health Department offers measles vaccines through its Siler City Clinic. To schedule an appointment for a measles vaccine, call 919-742-5641.
