The Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counsels Medicare beneficiaries and caregivers about Medicare, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D.
The counselors offer free and unbiased information regarding Medicare health care products.

Open enrollment is October 15-December 7 every year for Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage Plans. For Medicare Advantage Plans only, an additional open enrollment period is open from January 1 to March 31.

Do you have questions about anything and everything related to Medicare? Are you 65 years of age or older or approaching 65? Then our "Everything Medicare" classes, covering the Road to Medicare and Medicare 101, are for you!

  • Monday, April 6, 2026 - 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Wren Memorial Library, 500 North 2nd Avenue, Siler City
  • Wednesday, April 8, 2026 - 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Chatham County Emergency Operations Center, 112 Innovation Way, Pittsboro

The deadline for registration is Friday, March 27, 2026 and individuals may sign up with the below link.

As part of Aging Services, the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) has experts specially trained to answer your Medicare questions and to help you with other insurance issues important to seniors 65 years of age and over such as:

- Selecting a Medicare prescription drug (Part D) plan
Comparing a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans
Choosing a Medicare Supplement plan
Preventing Medicare billing fraud and abuse
