Childcare centers are permitted by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE). For more information about the Division of Child Development and Early Education, please visit: http://ncchildcare.dhhs.state.nc.us/general/home.asp.
Environmental Health staff review all proposed child care center applications and conduct pre-opening visits to approve building standards, water/wastewater supply, and childhood lead hazards. Additionally, Child Care centers are inspected for sanitation standards at least twice per year by an Environmental Health Specialist.
