On Election Day, registered voters must vote at their assigned polling place. This differs from early voting, when voters may cast a ballot at any early voting site in the county.

When Are the Polls Open?

Polling places are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Voters who are in line at their assigned polling place by 7:30 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

To avoid long lines, consider voting mid-morning or early afternoon, as mornings and late evenings tend to be busier.

Don't Forget Your Photo ID

All voters will be asked to show an acceptable photo ID when checking in to vote. For information on valid IDs and exceptions, visit our Voter ID page.

Sample Ballot

To view a sample ballot for the upcoming election, visit the Voter Search and navigate to “Your Sample Ballot.”

Accessible sample ballots (Option 4) are also available through the NC Absentee Ballot Portal.

Voting Assistance and Curbside Voting

Assistance is available to voters who need help marking their ballot or entering the polling site. For more information, visit our Accessible Voting Options page.

Curbside voting is also available at every polling place for voters unable to enter the voting place due to age or physical disability. Look for curbside signage and follow instructions upon arrival.

After You Vote

To confirm that your vote was counted, check the “Voter History” section in the Voter Search. This update may take up to a few weeks following Election Day while the county completes the post-election process.
