How do I remove a deceased voter from the registration rolls?

To remove a deceased voter from the voter registration list, a near relative, legal guardian, or representative of the deceased voter’s estate must complete and sign the Notification of Deceased Voter form.

North Carolina law defines a near relative as:

• Spouse

• Sibling

• Parent or stepparent

• Child or stepchild

• Grandchild or grandparent

• Mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, or son-in-law

The form may also be completed by a legal guardian or a personal representative of the deceased voter’s estate.

Only the voter may request to cancel their registration. To do so, the voter must complete and sign the official Cancellation of Voter Registration form.

How do I request a voter list or other election data?
Individuals such as candidates, political parties, campaign committees, and researchers may request public data like voter registration lists, absentee reports, and related election records.

To make a request, complete the Voter Records Request Form and indicate whether you would like the information emailed, saved to a CD, or printed. You may specify details such as name, address, party affiliation, precinct, age group, gender, or race.

Cost:

• CD: $1.00

• Printed copies: $0.02 per page
  Checks should be made payable to Chatham County. Do not send cash.

Requests are processed in the order received. Please allow at least 48 hours for processing.
