The Housing Trust Fund represents one of the county’s largest investments in affordable housing, with some $2.6 million dedicated to affordable housing preservation and development since 2018. Under the direction of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and the Board of County Commissioners, this fund has supported new affordable developments and provided repair services to county residents.

The first Housing Trust Fund Impact Report on awards and activities from 2018-2025 was presented in June of 2026, and is available for review here!

“As Chatham County keeps growing and housing costs increase for residents, I’m proud to see the work done through the Housing Trust Fund,” said Mike Dasher, former Chatham County Board of Commissioners Chair. “This is an important investment in Chatham County. When we help our elderly and disabled homeowners stay safely in their homes, and make sure our teachers, nurses, first responders, and customer service workers have places to live and take part in the community where they work, Chatham remains a place where everyone can thrive.”

Applications for Housing Trust Fund awards are currently closed, and expected to open again in August or September. For more information, and to be notified when materials become available, contact Housing Officer Jamie Andrews.

Fee reimbursement related to affordable housing development follows a separate process. Policy around impact and development fee reimbursement is available in the Fee Reimbursement Policy or by contacting Housing and Community Development Director Jason Smith.
