PITTSBORO, NC — On September 11, 2026, Chatham County Libraries invite the public to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 through a free digital program provided by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

MORE DETAILS: A quarter century after the September 11, 2001, attacks, 100 million Americans are too young to remember the day that changed the nation and world forever.

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s free Anniversary Digital Learning Experience program aims to teach those born after 9/11 about the unimaginable loss the nation experienced and the inspiring stories of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that have rippled through the decades.

The program consists of a 35-minute film highlighting first-person accounts of the attacks and their aftermath, and the opportunity to connect with Museum staff in real-time through an interactive live chat. The program is available on-demand beginning Friday morning, September 11th, and the Live Chat is available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

After the film, individuals can search and browse past Digital Learning Experience archives, featuring past years' programs and participants who share their first-person accounts of the attacks and their aftermath. The program will be interpreted in American Sign Language and captioned. An audio description, transcripts, and Spanish subtitles will also be available.
