PITTSBORO, NC— Chatham County is seeking individuals to apply to serve on the Goldston Gulf Sanitary District Board. Serving on this board is a great way for residents to have a voice and make a difference in the community.

The Goldston Gulf Sanitary District is a local public utility district based in Goldston that provides water and wastewater/sanitary services to customers in and around the Goldston and Gulf communities in Chatham County.
On June 27, 2026, Goldston Gulf Sanitary District board member Henry Kitchings passed away, therefore creating a vacancys. Kitchings was elected on November 7, 2023, for a four-year term. Any vacancy on a sanitary district board shall be filled by the county commissioners until the next election for sanitary district board members.
The election for this vacant term will be on November 2, 2027, therefore the replacement would be a administered the oath of office on December 6, 2027. After reviewing applications, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners will make an appointment until the replacement is administered the oath of office on December 6, 2027.
