Get Outside This Fall with Chatham County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources
PITTSBORO, NC—Chatham County Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources is inviting community members to get outside and try something new this fall with a variety of outdoor recreation programs. From archery and paddling to youth running, there are opportunities for all ages and experience levels to build skills, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors. The archery and paddle programs are multigenerational and open to participants ages 10 and older, making them a great opportunity for families, friends, or individuals to learn and participate together.
WHAT: Fall Outdoor Recreation Programs including Archery, Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddleboarding, and Youth Run Club
WHEN: Happening August through October 2026, various dates and times
WHERE: Northwest District Park, Southwest District Park, and Jordan Lake
Fall outdoor programs include Beginner and Intermediate Archery Clinics at Northwest District Park. Participants ages 10 and older can learn or build on their archery skills with a USA Archery certified coach. No experience is required for the beginner class, and all supplies are provided. Six-class sessions run on Wednesday evenings from September 9–October 14, with a $50 registration fee.
Participants ages 10 and older can also explore Jordan Lake through several paddling programs, including beginner sunset canoe and kayak trips and a beginner stand-up paddleboarding trip. No experience is required, and all supplies are provided. Paddle trips are $15 per session and offer a fun, multigenerational way to enjoy the water.
Youth ages 7–14 can join the Fall Run Club, which welcomes runners of all experience levels. The club meets Monday and Wednesday evenings at Southwest District Park from August 17–October 28. The program is limited to 25 participants, and the fee is $15. The running coach is bilingual in English and Spanish.
