CHATHAM COUNTY, NC — Chatham Community Library will host Kara Solomon, Conservation Coordinator with the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, for “Tracks, Trails & Telltales: How to Read Wildlife Signs” on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Holmes Family Meeting Room. This free program is open to the public, and registration is not required.

Wildlife is all around us, but many animals remain hidden from view. Through footprints, trails, scat, feathers, fur, nibbled vegetation, and other clues, animals leave behind signs that reveal their presence and behaviors. During this program, participants will learn how to identify and interpret wildlife signs, understand the factors that influence animal movement, and discover how tracking practices can support conservation efforts.

Kara Solomon will discuss the who, what, when, where, and why of searching for wildlife signs, as well as provide tips for improving observation skills, identifying species and their unique indicators, and practicing responsible and safe wildlife tracking.
