Chatham Community Library to Host “Preserve Your Garden: Fermentation, Freezing, & Pickling” Class

PITTSBORO, NC—Chatham Community Library invites residents to a hands-on educational program “Preserve Your Garden: Fermentation, Freezing, & Pickling” class on Thursday, July 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Holmes Family Meeting Room. This program is free, open to the public and focused on safe and simple food preservation techniques to make the most of the summer harvest. Registration is not required.

Learn simple, safe ways to make the most of your summer harvest. This class focuses on fermentation, freezing, and pickling to help participants preserve an abundance of seasonal produce such as peppers, tomatoes, and summer squash. Attendees will learn essential steps for each method to ensure safe, tasty results, along with guidance on basic equipment and best practices. The program will be led by Tara Gregory, Family & Consumer Sciences Agent with NC Cooperative Extension.
