Solid Waste & Recycling Collection Center Upcoming Closing

PITTSBORO, NC— Chatham County Solid Waste & Recycling wants to make residents aware of upcoming holiday closings for the Collection Centers. The 12 Collection Centers will close on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, in observance of Independence Day.

The Collection Centers will be open on Friday, July 3rd while the Solid Waste & Recycling Main Facility and County government offices will be closed. The Main Facility is located at 28 County Services Road in Pittsboro.

“When holidays fall on a Saturday, the County government offices always observe the holiday on a weekday,” says Kevin Lindley, Environmental Quality Director. “Since the Collection Centers operate on Saturdays, we are adjusting the closing schedule for the Collection Centers, so attendants won’t have to work on the actual holiday. Independence Day is the first holiday that differs from the County office closings, Christmas will be the next occurrence.”

The Collection Centers and Main Facility will all reopen on Monday, July 6th at 7:00 am.
