NC State Extension Welcomes Summer Intern Katelyn Medlin to Chatham County Center
Medlin is a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Crop and Soil Sciences. Originally from Hillsborough, North Carolina, she was raised on her family’s 35-acre cattle farm, where she represents the fourth generation of farmers in her family.
Although she grew up around cattle farming, Medlin discovered a passion for row crop agriculture after getting to know a local corn farmer. That experience inspired her to pursue a different path within the agricultural industry.
Following graduation, Medlin hopes to become a crop consultant, helping farmers identify crop diseases, research treatment solutions, and provide guidance for maintaining healthy, productive crops.
In addition to her academic interests, Medlin is actively involved in agriculture and youth development. She is a former 4-H camp counselor, has experience in crop research, and has helped host recruitment events at NC State. As the oldest of five children, she also enjoys helping tend the family garden when she is home.
Medlin is excited to spend the summer in Chatham County and looks forward to learning more about the work Extension agents and support staff provide to the community each day.
