This May, the Red Cross is asking people to celebrate more life and give blood. Individuals are encouraged to give blood during Trauma Awareness Month in May to support trauma patients and others with serious medical conditions.

Donors can show off their donor pride at the pool, lake, or beach this summer. Individuals who come to give blood from May 18 through 31 will receive an oversized Red Cross beach towel, while supplies last.

Eligible donors with types O, B negative, or A negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation where they can provide twice the lifesaving power. During this type of donation, red blood cells are separated from other blood components, and the plasma and platelets are returned to the donor.

To schedule a donation, individuals may contact 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go to www.redcrossblood.org and put in Siler City's zip code 27344. Scroll down to the blood drive for May 29 at Wren Memorial Library and click “See Times.”
