PITTSBORO, NC— The Chatham Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold its next meeting on March 19, 2026, and invites community members to make a difference by joining this critical group.

Agenda items will include:
• A presentation on “Responding to Disaster Top to Bottom - Who Does What?” in Chatham County and in North Carolina.
• An opportunity to learn more about General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) and the radio repeater used in Chatham County. GMRS radios are great for family and neighborhood communication. Those who have a GMRS radio can bring them to the meeting and receive assistance programming them if needed.
• An open discussion on the CERT program in Chatham County for 2026 and the need for additional volunteers, especially those who are bilingual in Spanish.
Chatham CERT delivers education and training for Chatham County residents on emergency and disaster preparedness. When activated, the team supports, to the extent of their training, Chatham County emergency response under the direction of Chatham County Emergency Operation officials and local incident commanders.
CERT meetings are generally open to all Chatham County residents over the age of 18.
