Chatham County Presents Results of 2025 Biennial Resident Satisfaction Survey

The random phone survey of 400 Chatham County residents over age 18 was conducted from November through December 2025

PITTSBORO, NC— On February 16, 2026, Chatham County Public Information Officer Kara Lusk presented results of the 2025 Biennial Resident Satisfaction Survey to the Chatham County Board of Commissioners at its meeting in Pittsboro. The 2025 results were positive, resulting in an overall grade of B+. The overall mean was 3.36, which is a slight decrease from the mean of 3.45 in 2023.

Biennial Resident Satisfaction Survey_2The random phone survey of 400 Chatham County residents over age 18 was conducted from November through December 2025. It consisted of 47 core questions and related sub-questions regarding satisfaction about Chatham County as a place to live and work, ways people get information on County government, and feedback on services and how well staff provided them. Participants also were asked open-ended questions to get more detail where low marks were given and to gain insight on the most pressing or challenging issues facing Chatham County.

More than 70% of the grades were B+ or better. Four grades increased; 32 grades remained unchanged; 37 grades declined. Services that County departments offer earned a B+, with a mean of 3.29. County staff earned a B+, with a mean of 3.43.

“Every two years, this survey gives us valuable, direct feedback from our community that not only measures satisfaction but also helps us better understand the concerns and challenges facing our county,” said Amanda Robertson, Chatham County Board of Commissioners Chair. “We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate, and we remain committed to using this feedback to guide our priorities, improve services, and strengthen trust with our residents.”

The following areas were named as the most pressing issues or challenges facing Chatham County in 2025:
1. Controlling rapid growth/development
2. Nothing/can’t think of anything
3. High taxes
4. Infrastructure issues with growth
5. Traffic
6. Water issues
7. Bringing jobs/businesses to the area
8. Improve schools/education
9. Affordable housing
10. Green space/preserve natural areas
