Pittsboro, NC — Chatham Community Library will host author Teri M. Brown for a discussion of her acclaimed book, Daughters of Green Mountain Gap, selected as one of five 2026 North Carolina Reads titles. This event is free and open to the public.

Daughters of Green Mountain Gap tells the story of Maggie, Carrie Ann, and Josie Mae, three generations of remarkable North Carolina women at the turn of the twentieth century. The novel explores themes of racism, fear of change, loss of traditions, and complex family dynamics. Through their stories, author Teri M. Brown reveals that some questions are never simple to answer.
Born in Athens, Greece, as an Air Force child, Brown graduated from UNC Greensboro and began her writing career helping small businesses with content creation. She has published five nonfiction self-help books on real estate and finance, earning multiple awards. Her third novel, Daughters of Green Mountain Gap, published in January 2024, is a generational story about Appalachian healers and has won five awards.
From February to June 2026, North Carolina Humanities is hosting virtual monthly book club discussions, featuring book authors and topic experts. Libraries, community groups, and individuals across North Carolina are encouraged to participate, read along, attend discussions, and host local programs to foster conversation, camaraderie, and community.
