2026 Decals Being Mailed Out- Required March 1

Post Date:02/03/2026 9:00 AM
The 2026 decals have started to be mailed out. Those residents who paid the annual solid waste fee by the Tax Office deadline had their decals included in the initial mailing. Solid Waste & Recycling staff will mail out decals weekly to those who pay the solid waste fee late.

Decals may arrive within a few days or can take several weeks, especially if there is a forwarding address set up. We ask that residents wait until February 15th to contact our office about not receiving their decal.

The 2025 decals do not expire until February 28. Residents will need the 2026 decals starting March 1. A decal must be shown to the attendant every time residents use the center.

Decals are now required to use household hazardous waste (HHW) events, except for residents who live in the town limits of Cary, Pittsboro, and Siler City. All residents will be asked to show a driver's license or item with the address of where the waste is coming from. Learn more about HHW at www.chathamcountync.gov/hhw

Two additional decals are provided per qualified dwelling. If you would like to purchase additional decals, they are $10 per set of two. Additional decals can be purchased by completing the decal request form or contacting the Main Office at 919-542-5516 or recycle@chathamcountync.gov. The Main Office is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and is located at 28 County Services Road, Pittsboro.
