Chatham County Board of Elections Seeking Election Officials for March 3, 2026, Primary

Chatham County, NC — The Chatham County Board of Elections is seeking registered voters in Chatham County to serve as election officials for the upcoming March 3, 2026, Primary Election.

Election officials play a critical role in ensuring secure, fair, and accessible elections for all voters. The Board is especially in need of election officials to work at the following precincts:
• Albright
• West Siler City
• East Siler City
• Bonlee
• Crossroads

 

Serving as an election official is a paid position and includes training prior to Election Day. No prior experience is required — just a commitment to public service and supporting the democratic process.

Positions and Pay
• Chief Judge: $265/day on Election Day
• Party Judge: $225/day on Election Day
• Election Assistant: $210/day on Election Day
• Hourly pay for pre-election duties: $13.50–$15.00/hour depending on position

Chatham County residents who are registered to vote and interested in serving their community are encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties
Chief Judge: Oversees polling locations, coordinates setup and staff, manages ballots and supplies, resolves issues, and ensures smooth operations.

Party Judge: Supports the Chief Judge, assists with setup and closing, counts votes, signs election documents, and serves on challenge panels if needed.

Election Assistant: Checks in registered voters, assists with curbside voting, provides correct ballots, and supports the Chief Judge as needed.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and work in a non-partisan manner
