Registration Now Open for 2nd Annual “Chatham Farms Forever Day”

PITTSBORO, NC—The Chatham County Farmland Preservation Program is excited to announce its second annual “Chatham Farms Forever Day” workshop on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center at 1192 US Hwy 64 W Business, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Screenshot 2025-12-04 102846The workshop is free, but registration is required, and seating is limited. To register, individuals may visit https://chathamfarms4ever2.eventbrite.com, or contact Farmland Preservation Coordinator Andrew Waters at (919) 545-8447 or andrew.waters@chathamcountync.gov.

The workshop will cover topics on farmland preservation options, farmland transition and estate planning, conservation management, and cost share opportunities. A free lunch will be provided for attendees.

“The Chatham County Farmland Preservation program is dedicated not only to preserving Chatham County farms but also educating our landowners about managing their farmland transition with family and heirs and enhancing access to conservation management resources,” said Waters.

The morning’s general session will feature presentations from a variety of resource agencies and nonprofit organizations, including the Land Loss Prevention Project, Triangle Land Conservancy, Chatham County’s Present Use Value coordinator, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Chatham Soil & Water Conservation District, and the N.C. State Cooperative Extension. Concurrent workshop sessions in the afternoon will allow participants to interact in more detail with resource specialists on conservation easements, conservation management practices, and wills and estate planning.

This year’s Chatham Farms Forever event is sponsored by AgSouth Farm Credit and the North Carolina Foundation for Soil & Water Conservation. Chatham County’s Farmland Preservation Program is an initiative of the Chatham Soil & Water Conservation District in coordination with the Chatham County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.
