Chatham County residents and businesses affected by Tropical Storm Chantal can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA

Chatham County, N.C. — Homeowners, renters, and businesses impacted by Tropical Storm Chantal can now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA has issued an administrative disaster declaration for affected counties, including Chatham.

FloodDisaster Loan Details:

Homeowners and Renters:
Up to $500,000 to repair or replace a primary residence
Up to $100,000 for personal property losses, including vehicles, furniture, appliances, and clothing
Businesses and Nonprofits:
Up to $2 million to repair or replace real estate, inventory, equipment, and other damaged assets

How to Apply:
Applications can be submitted online through the MySBA Loan Portal at https://lending.sba.gov. For additional assistance, contact the SBA’s Customer Service Center by e-mail: disastercustomerservice@sba.gov or phone: 1-800-659-2955. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability may dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

Cleanup Assistance:
Residents in need of damage or debris cleanup can contact Crisis Cleanup at 910-218-1569 by August 1. Crisis Cleanup connects residents with volunteers from local relief organizations who may assist with general debris removal, including downed trees.
