PITTSBORO, NC— The Chatham County Board of Elections Office wants to inform residents that are registered to vote and reside in Chatham County are eligible to file to run for offices up for election in 2025.

WHAT: 2025 Municipal Candidate Filing

WHEN: The candidate filing period begins on Monday at 8:00 AM, July 7th, 2025, and ends at noon Friday, July 18th, 2025. Candidates will file at the Chatham County Board of Election Office; 984 Thompson St, Suite D, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Filing Hours: Between the period from July 7th at 8:00 A.M. to July 18th at noon candidates can file to run for office Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Town of Cary Town Council At-Large: Filing Fee $114
Town of Pittsboro Mayor: Filing Fee $12
Town of Pittsboro Town Commissioner (2): Filing Fee $10

Town of Siler City Town Commissioner District 1: Filing Fee $10
Town of Siler City Town Commissioner District 5: Filing Fee $10

What to bring?
All candidates must pay their filing fee when they come to file and this must be a check made payable to Chatham County, or if paying with cash exact amount only! Also, all candidates must bring a valid photo identification.

Filing requirements?
Must be 21 years of age by Election Day
Must be a resident of Chatham County & reside in one of the municipalities or Goldston Gulf Sanitary District.
