PITTSBORO, NC— Chatham Community Library will host a virtual film screening of Farmsteaders (2018). This program is free and open to the public.
WHAT: Virtual Film Screening: Farmsteaders
WHEN: Thursday, June 12 – Thursday, June 19, 2025
WHERE: Virtual Program (see registration details below)
Farmsteaders is a love story, a farm story, and a story of contemporary rural America. Nick Nolan, his wife Celeste, and their young family are on a journey to resurrect his grandfather's dairy farm — fighting to keep this homeland from "drying up and blowing away," something that has happened to about 4.7 million farms in the U.S. as the pressures of corporate-driven food have left deep scars in the industry.
Nick and Celeste's meditations on life, legacy, and resistance bring complexity and depth to the national conversation and characterization of the rural white American. Film Highlights and Awards:
• Indie Grits 2018 Winner, Brig Grit, Best Feature Length Film
• Indie Grits 2018 Winner, People's Grit, Audience Award
