DESCRIPTION:<p>In recognition of <a href="https://www.thehotline.org/stakeholders/domestic-violence-awareness-month/" target="_blank">Domestic Violence Awareness Month</a>, Chatham Community Library, in partnership with <a href="https://www.secondbloomofchatham.org/" target="_blank">Second Bloom of Chatham</a>, will host&nbsp;<a href="https://www.janinelatus.com/" target="_blank">Janine Latus</a>&nbsp;as she presents, "We Need to Talk:&nbsp;Compelling strategies to recognize intimate partner abuse, intervene, and help yourself and others live healthy, loving lives" on Saturday, October 18, from noon - 3:00 pm in the Holmes Family Meeting Room. This program is free and open to the public.</p><p>Latus is the <em>NY Times</em> bestselling author of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.janinelatus.com/writer/book/" target="_blank"><em>If I Am Missing Or Dead: A Sister's Story of Love, Murder and Liberation</em></a>, a heart-wrenching journey of discovery as she traces the roots of her own — and her sister’s — victimization with unflinching candor. This beautifully written memoir will move readers from the first to the last page. At once a confession, a call to break the cycle of abuse, and a deeply felt love letter to her baby sister.</p><p>Fifteen free copies of Janine's book are available on a first come, first served basis and can be picked up at the library's front desk.</p><p>A reception preceding the program and book discussion will begin at noon.
