Chatham Community Library will host a virtual discussion on the 2026 general midterm election on Monday, September 14, at 1:00 pm. Leading the discussion is Chance Mashburn, Deputy Director with the Chatham County Board of Elections.  This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Mashburn will discuss  early voting, voting on Election Day, absentee voting, same-day registration, curbside voting, provisional voting, and some of the recently implemented voting policies in North Carolina followed by a question & answer period.

Chance is a 2018 Guilford College graduate with a degree in Political Science. He first became involved in elections as a poll worker during the 2018 midterm election, which sparked his  interest in election administration. In 2019,  Mashburn began working as an Elections Specialist with the Chatham County Board of Elections. He later joined the North Carolina State Board of Elections as an Elections Program Specialist, where he worked primarily with voter registration.

For the past two years, Mashburn has served as Deputy Director of the Chatham County Board of Elections, where he oversees the administration of elections and work to provide voters with the information and resources they need to participate in the electoral process. Chance has seven years of experience in election administration at the state and local levels, with experience in voter registration, absentee voting, poll worker training, and community outreach.
