Meet author Sue Soltis, who will share her book The Moon Moved In, featured across North Carolina this month as part of the
North Carolina Science Festival Statewide Star Party.
Sue Soltis’ third picture book The Moon Moved In, (Chronicle Books 2025, illustrated by Sonia Sánchez), is a 2026 Ezra Jack Keats award nominee and an Amazon Editors’ Pick. It was selected for the Children’s Book Council Hot off the Press list (July 2025), as a Best Books of 2025 by BookPage, and for NC Star Party 2026.
Her first picture book, Nothing Like a Puffin (Candlewick Press, illustrated by Bob Kolar), celebrated 10 years in print by coming out in paperback in 2021. Her second picture book The Stars Just Up the Street (Candlewick Press, 2020, illustrated by Christine Davenier), was listed on DarkSky.org’s recommended books for 2021 and named on Smithsonian Air and Space Magazine’s round-up of the best aviation- and space-themed books for young readers (2020). Sue Soltis has been hooked on writing ever since she started writing poems in a Snoopy notebook at age 12. She now lives with her family in Chapel Hill, NC—where, like the Moon, she tries to bring marvelous things to the yard. Find out more at www.suesoltis.com.
