In recognition of Veterans Day, Chatham Community Library will host guest speakers George and Victoria Chall as they discuss their lives of service and advocacy for those who serve the United States military. This program is free and open to the public and will take place in the Holmes Family Meeting Room on Friday, November 14, from 1:00 - 2:30 pm.

Dr. George Chall landed on the beaches of Normandy in August 1944, as an Army Surgical Technician with General Patton's Third Army, 110th Evacuation Hospital. His regiment was among the first to use penicillin in the field, helping to save countless lives amid devastation. 

After the war, George earned his Doctorate on the GI Bill from Columbia University and knew he wanted to pursue public service work. He enjoyed careers first as a college professor and then teaching government leaders international relations and economic development.

Victoria Chall also believes in serving others. She is a former school counselor, homeless population social worker, and spent much of her life working for military families and veterans. Victoria is an Elizabeth Dole Foundation Caregiver Fellow, and Legislative Chair for American Legion Auxiliary Chapel Hill Post 6. As a volunteer, artist, and writer, she continues to advocate for those who have and for those who continue to serve this country. The couple live in Chatham County.
